Ride Share Board

You may first check the Ride Share Board Rides Offered section to see if there is someone with whom you can share a ride to Dhamma Malaya.


Private Cars

On toll exit road 830 to Gambang, do a u-turn after UMP, take the turnoff to Mangala Resort, up to the bridge and boom-gate. After the gate, follow the signs to Vipassana Centre and drive approx 1.8km

Charter Bus Service

The charter bus service between Kuala Lumpur and Dhamma Malaya is organised by old student on voluntary basis for your transportation convenience. This service operates independently, and Dhamma Malaya holds no responsibility for it.

Public Bus Service - Going to Dhamma Malaya

Location of Dhamma Malaya Centre

Dhamma Malaya is located in Gambang, and opposite to University Malaysia Pahang (UMP). Gambang town is 22KM away from Kuantan. Some of the buses from Kuala Lumpur to Kuantan may pass-by Gambang (UMP), as indicated in the map. You need to check if the buses will drop you off at Gambang (UMP stop). When purchasing bus ticket online, please search for "UMP Gambang, Kuantan" as destination to ensure that they will stop at UMP Gambang. Please also make sure your arrival time is within the registration time on check-in day.


Going into the Centre

It is about 2.5KM away from UMP bus stop to Dhamma Malaya,

  • You may choose to walk to the Centre as the route is well shaded by oil palms;
  • You may also try to hitch a lift from in-coming students on registration day if you wait at the security post at the entrance to Mangala Resort, or
  • You can call a taxi to pick you up from the UMP bus stop (please click here for taxi information).
Buses coming from Johor Bahru and Singapore will stop at Terminal Sentral Kuantan (TSK), it is about 22KM away from Dhamma Malaya, you can take a taxi to the centre. There are buses which pass by Gambang and can drop the passengers at Gambang upon request. Please check with the bus operators.

Public Bus Service - Leaving Dhamma Malaya

Students are responsible for arranging their own transport for leaving the Centre at the end of the Course. It is strongly recommended that return bus tickets be purchased prior to arrival as tickets cannot be purchased at the Centre.


Students arriving at the Center without a return, or onward bus ticket will need to travel to the Kuantan bus terminal on last day of the course to arrange their onward journey. Kuantan, is approximately 22KM from the Centre. For those returning to KL, there is an option to take the Charter Bus Service from Dhamma Malaya to KL.

Students may make arrangements among themselves to share taxis that are going to a common destination to save on costs on last day of the course. (Note: a transportation counter will be setup a day before the end of the course before 12pm noon, students can then register at the counter for taxi-sharing arrangement.)

1) If you get off at UMP, please wait at the bus stop.
2) If you get off opposite Caltex petrol station, please cross the road and wait at the taxi stand near Caltex petrol station. There are a few small food stalls behind the taxi stand.

Please note that the taxi drivers do not have any connection with Dhamma Malaya. Dhamma Malaya will not be responsible for services provided by them.
